Why we're buying whatever Vincent Kartheiser's selling 

Nearly everything about AMC's stealth hit Mad Men mesmerizes, epecially Vincent Kartheiser's Pete Campbell, the entitled junior ad exec we just love to hate so love, Campbell desperately tries to gain traction in the 1960s Madison Avenue ad game by using his connections, his running, and any other means necessary (blackmaling his boss, pimping out his wife). But the wiry the blue-eyed, baby-faced Kartheiser playes it, you almost feel sorry for the guy. "I'm in souch with my own weaselly  ass," he says. "I think it was within me to approach my job in an underhundred way." But should we sympathisize with a craven office creature like Pete? "Sure. He does the staff we imagine doing as we fall asleep at night. Pete's boss[, Jon Hamm] playes just as dirty, but he's better at it. Plus, he's tall and handsome."

In real life, the affably spazzy Kartheiser is the anti-Campbell, "I try so hard to make people like me. I aggravate them." he says I try to be funny, pushing their bttons before anything is established. I guess it's aquirk, or maybe I'm just abusive." To hear him describe it, he has yet to grow up. "I run into people from high school and they look so adult. They have babies and minivans and houses, I think I've gene backward in some ways."

But in others, he's kept foward. Having done "20-some-odd movies" Kartheiser has is pay dirt with the stylish Mad Men, navigating he sleazy side of office life like an old pro. "It's a hidden fantasy of mine, to be a douche bag behind a desk." he says "Not that all people behind desks are douche bags, It's just that I'd be one" Spoken like an ad man.
