Early Life

Vincent Paul Kartheiser was born on May 5th of 1979 and raised by Jim and Janet Kartheiser in his hometown, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has four older sisters, Colette, Therese, Elise and Andrea and an older brother, Nathan.

 

Carrer

Early work

Vincent grew up acting in Minneapolis in Children's Theatre Company and Guthrie, also doing some tours and choir. His very first theatre appearance was when he was six. He remembers running up to the stage where her sister was performing and the director shouted, "Get out of the stage kid or learn to act!" He's been a part of theatre productions like A Christmas Carol (1985), The Velveteen Rabbit (1988), Richard III (1993), Treasure Island (1993), Henry IV (1993), Henry V (1993), Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1993), Pippi Longstocking (1991) and Raggedy Ann and Andy (1993). But it wasn't long before his talent was recoginzed and was brought to the big screen.

 

The 90s

Vincent started trying out for movies at the age of thirteen and had very small parts in films like Iron Will (but his part got cut off), Untamed Heart (1993) and Little Big League (1994) but that was only the start. He starred on a low-budget film, Heaven Sent (1994) at fourteen but it didn't come out in theatres. His first major big screen role was in Indian in the Cupboard as Gillion in 1995. That was his first breakthrough role that lead him to co-star opposite Thora Birch in the adventure movie, Alaska (1996) and star in his own movie, Masterminds (1997) with Patrick Stewart before moving to All I Wanna Do (1998) (aka. Strike with Monica Keena and Rachael Leigh Cook.

 

From 2000 to 2007

The 21th century opens with Vincent in Crime and Punishment in Suburbia (2000), Preston Tylk (2000), Luckytown (2000) (with Kirsten Dunst) and Ricky 6 (2000). The next year we could view him in The Unsaid (2001) with Andy Gracia.
Vincent is also know for his role as Connor in the popular television series, Angel. He appared in the 3rd season and he was added the regular cast in the 4th season. In 2004 after Angel he worked in Dandelion and he come back on theatre with Slag Heap. In 2005 is released "Boys Brief 3" DVD. This DVD containes a short movie, Shakespeare Sonnet, where you can find Vinnie in role of Sebastian.
In 2006 we saw him in Alpha Dog and you can find on internet another short movie Waning Moon. Before Mad Men he worked in Killing Zelda Sparks (2007).

 

From 2007 to present - Mad Men

In 2007 before it's a wonderful year for Vincent, infact he added in Mad Men cast in role of Pete Campbell. Beyond his regular role in Mad Men in 2010 he worked in Elektra Luxx, in TV series Money and in TV documentary The American Experience.
The current project is the movie Now with Justin Timberlake, Olivia Wilde and Amanda Seyfried.

 

Personal Life

Along with his acting, Vincent majored in history at UCLA. At his spare time he likes to read and learn.  He currently lives in a bungalow he describes as a "wooden box" with no mirror; and he has been selling or giving away everything he owns. At one time it was reported he did not own a toilet, but he stated in a subsequent interview that whoever said that was wrong.

In an other interview he told he is car-free and so he take public trasportion and about it he said "It made my life better to slow down a little bit and walk through the city".
