By Dennis Michael AMC has ordered up 13 episodes of Mad Men from Sopranos producer Matthew Weiner and Lionsgate Films. The Hollywood Reporter says the show will follow a group of New York advertising executives in the 1960?s. Jon Hamm, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser and Christina Hendricks will be in the ensemble.
Weiner earned an Emmy nomination for his work in the 2004 season of The Sopranos. He?s also written for Andy Richter Controls the Universe and Becker. AMC?s executive VP of programming and production, Rob Sorcher, praised the Mad Men pilot for its high quality, cinematic style, and added ?there?s nothing like Mad Men on television today.? And there won?t be, until the show makes its debut on the AMC channel next June.
